LUCKNOW: It was a dream come true for the inmates of Lucknow Model Jail when they came face to face with some Bollywood stars on Monday. As they flattened their noses againt the jail bars and strained their eyes at the couple in bridal attitre, their joy knew no bound when they Ashiquee hero Rahul Roy brushing up his make-up.
In fact, it was a double delight for the jail band when it got the opportunity to play itself in the movie.
Just a mere handshake with Rahul brought the spark back in many eyes and song on many lips.
The shooting paraphernalia complete with cameras, trolley, director, choreographer, makeup artist --gave them a feel of Film City or maybe be it was a jail set in Bollywood's famous Film City.
"I saw him, he shook hands with me. I cannot believe this," said Shakeel, a prisoner. "I have seen many plays in my village and always wanted to see how a movie is made. Today, I just cannot express how it feels to actually be a part of the movie," added Rambali, a member of the jail band that was used as aprop in the movie.
"Ab to mein bhi hero ban gaya," ghar mein sab ko bolunga ki yeh wali picture zaroor dekhe," (Now, I am a hero too and I would tell everybody in my family to certainly watch this movie), stated Chote Lal Yadav with excitement.
Meeting stars and watching a shoot underway is a dream come true for any person. Whereas for us, even watching a movie is a big thing -- what to speak of meeting a star.
"It is a lovely experience. They are just like anyone one of us and I am so happy so receive such a warm welcome," said Mahesh Bhatt's find -- Rahul Roy. I was surprised with the way they played the band . It was superb, he added.
"I always wanted to visit a jail, but never thought that it would be like this. They just don't seem like prisoners to me," quipped Bhojpuri film actress, Divya Desai, clad in a scarlet saree.
"Our main aim is to reform the prisoners and not inflict inhuman punishment. This is why we allowed the shooting. We also want them to have the same fun as those living on the otherside of the great prison walls," said senior jail supritendent, Suresh Chandra.
Seeing them cheerful brings us immense pleasure, he added. They have been overwhelmed ever since they came to know that the jail band would be a part of this film, stated Chandra.
